The Art of Japanese Fencing

Japanese Kendo Introduction  劍道(けんどう )
 

The purpose of practicing Kendo is;
     To mold the mind and the body,
     To cultivate a vigorous spirit,
     And through correct and rigid training,
     To strive for improvement in the art of Kendo
     To hold in esteem human courtesy and honor
     To associate with others with sincerity,
     And to forever pursue the cultivation of oneself.

 

Kendo Master Demonstrates Samurai Sword Fighting

Master Shozo Kato, a 54 years old man who start practicing the Art of Japanese Fencing Kendo at the age of 12 came to New York to demonstrate his awesome and wonderful katana skills outside the Museum of the City of New York.

With his unique combat skills, Master Kato performed many various techniques which impressed much of the audience.The demonstration is part of an exhibition at the Museum, “Samurai in New York: The First Japanese Delegation, 1860.”











My thoughts
Last saturday, I actually went online to search for shop that sells Kendo swords and armours. It was a tough search!! As Singapore could hardly find any stuffs related to Kendo. However I still mange to find some really cool Kendo stuffs on ebay..

As you can see, these are no ordinary items that can be bought for a dollar or 2. That armour itself could actually cost you $800!!!
